Upcoming talk:

SHP Outsider Lectures. Union Chapel 9th September.

“Free thinkers from the worlds of art, activism, comedy and academia will take the stage at an ‘alternative TED talks’ in aid of some of London’s most socially excluded people.”

Workshops are designed specifically to users needs, and their focus is to help people to engage in art making, introduce therapeutic ideas and promote the psychological benefits of creativity.

Taster sessions are for a nominal fee and are an opportunity to understand more about art therapy through art making and discussion.

Recent taster sessions were held for the public & health professionals as part of ‘What is Beauty’ a community mental health event in Gillette Square, Dalston.

March 2010. ‘My life in picture’ – Creative workshops for Outward Housing

Outward Housing commissioned me to run a group for adults with learning difficulties who were socially isolated, and struggled to be understood.

The project ran for five days, with workshops in art, performance and film with a public exhibition on the last day. The group sessions focused on members’ relationships with others, their experience of being in care and their hopes and dreams. Participants took part in workshops that helped them get used to using art materials and encouraged them to experiment, take risks and make mistakes. The workshops helped them to be comfortable with using art materials, be noticed for who they are and be acknowledged for their creativity.
